Light Therapy uses LEDs to treat abnormal tissues by photons. Photons are particles of energy that are absorbed by cells, engendering numerous positive physiological feedbacks. The light is transformed into biochemical energy, provoking the restoration of the morphology and the normal functioning of cells.

Light therapy is the scientific application of light on specific points of the body in order to activate or produce particular physiological results. When light is produced, it can be described as comprising electromagnetic waves. It is the appropriate combination of the energy output, the type of wavelength and energy absorption in the cell that take part in the healing, in cell regeneration, which helps towards skin rejuvenation, getting back into shape and wellness.

The cell is the elementary component of living tissue. It reacts to external stimuli via numerous specific sensors. When a cell is affected by the vibrations of a light wave, depending on the wavelength of the beam of light, it shall enter “resonance” and this agitation brought about by the absorption of light energy causes the chemical and physical modifications that will stimulate its activity.

Danish physician Niels Ryberg Finsen created modern light therapy. In 1903, he was rewarded with the Nobel Prize for medicine for the results of his work.

Today, scientists the world over all agrees: we know that light can interact with matter via energy transfer. The cells absorb the photons and transform their energy into biochemical energy to generate numerous metabolic processes necessary for cell repair or regeneration and re-establishing homeostasis.

More recently, certain precise light frequencies have been used successfully in combination with photosensitising substances in cancer research to destroy cancerous cells, reducing to nil the collateral damage that all patients who have ever undergone chemotherapy or radiotherapy know far too well.
This is what is known as photodynamic therapy or P.D.T.
